I was a bike messenger in Budapest. When I started to design our first messenger bag, I was sure about what I want on my messenger bag, what pockets, what options can be useful. This bag was redesigned a few times during the years, I’m always trying to make it even better and better after your comments.
The messenger bag is made out of two layers: the inner layer is truck tarpaulin, a very tough, waterproof material. The outer layer is the good old 1000 Denier Cordura, an extremely hard, impregnated and double coated, UV-resistant material. These two layers are not sewn together – the inner tarp is floating, so water cannot seep in through the seams, not even in heavy rain.
The shoulder pad of the messenger bag is padded, and there is a velcro part on this – you can attach your cell phone holder or a small tool pouch here. The shoulder strap is adjustable with just one hand – there are two D-rings for this. One for loosening, one for tightening – even during riding your bike. The shoulder strap is reversible also, you can decide which shoulder you want to wear your bag on. The webbing we use here is seatbelt webbing, this is the toughest material I can find.

There is a rain cover on the messenger bag – this part prevents water seeping into your bag when it’s closed. No small holes on the sides of the bag flap – when the bag is closed, the inner parts are totally protected from water, rain, or mud. When your bag is totally full, the rain cover part helps you to extend the bag’s capacity.

Pockets and other things:

There are 6 pockets in the messenger bag. There are two inner, slip pockets, and one bigger, inner pocket, which closes with a velcro. These inner pockets are made out of a mesh material, you can always see what you put there.
On the outer layer, under the closed flap, there is a bigger and a smaller zipper pocket, and a small slip pocket with a pen holder inside. Lot of pockets already, and if this is not enough for you, you can order some extra pockets also.
On the bottom of the bag, there is a reflective stripe, and a blinky holder. A second stabilizer strap helps to keep the bag always on your back.

Capacity is given after the flat dimensions of the bag – if you fill it, it can hold more.

We offer a lot of extra options so you can customize your bag as your needs.

Padded back: practical when carrying heavy, or sharp items. The padding is between your back and the load you’re carrying. It is a pocket, closes with a zipper, with a 1cm (0.4″) padding inside. You can remove the padding, you can sit on it when it is needed, and you can use this pocket as a slip pocket for up to A4 sized papers.

Compression straps: these two straps, situated on the bottom of your bag, can be used to compress your bag when it’s not full. Also, you can attach something to your bag with these straps also – for example, a wet raincoat after a thunderstorm.

Secret pocket: a 10*10 cm (3.9″x3.9″) pocket, hidden in your bag.

Laptop sleeve: we’re making the sleeve after your laptop’s dimensions. This sleeve attaches to the bag’s inner layer with velcro, and is completely removable.

Key clip: a small, plastic carabiner inside your bag where you can store your keys safely.

Extra reflective stripes: two more reflective stripes, to the bag closing straps – offering even better visibility.

Inner zipper pocket: this is a small additional pocket inside your bag – very good and safe place for your wallet, and papers.

U-lock holder: an adjustable U-lock holder on the side of your bag – you can just slip your U-lock into this. It can hold U-locks from the standard sizes to the Kryptonite Minis.
